Monk, if you want to help JamesPK to get this going it would be great but you must speak with him first, as he was good enough to offer and has already shown us a demo. He should have charge with this one otherwise it might get complicated.
Someone will be needed to maintain and upload footage to the database. Anyone who would like to be Film archive manager should let us know. I suggest it would be good if Conor & JamesPK (no pressure0 took it on as Conor seems to have the most need for it at the moment. Or, of course if Conor & JamesPK arnt interested.... anyone else
Anyone who has raw footage from FS jumps should please send it to jamespk (msn above) Once we have an organised archive up &running and members are used to posting up new footage it will be a fantstic resource for Flying Squad productions to create some interesting films. Of course we will have to ensure original camera work is recognised in the credits of post edit films

Another way it could be done is by uploading all the files to a file uploading site, and then copying the links to the files and storing them on the database I created. That way they can still be sorted and browsed through easily but without having to worry about using up our own disc space.
Members browsing the site for videos wouldn't notice a difference as the videos would link straight to the download on the hosting site, the only different being that to add the video you'd upload it to a file hosting site and copy the link to the site I created. How does that sound?

Sounds like the best solution. As far as i can see it wouldnt make a differance if we linked from an upload site or personal space, so yeah, go ahead with that. Have you been sent any film yet?

I spoke to drproctor he uploaded a video but it's an edited one because he doesn't think the footage he has is high quality (I think). I spoke to conor too but he is too busy right now. If anyone else wants to add footage i think you should use freespace.filefront.com/1 to upload it and then add it to the site here.

Perfect! well done JPK
Come on Dr hand over the footage, doesnt matter what you think of the quality. Some one might want to use it, Lesser quality film can look good when used creatively.

By the way edit and delete features are coming soon... but should I put a password on it so that no one who isn't part of FS messes up the video info?

New footage added to FS archive for all your FS productions. The footage for Ef1's Summertime 2006 film was taken from this footage. www.grim-fandango.com/test/fs/index.phpPlease use it for uploads & downloads. would be good to link up any footage of FS that you have so others can use it.

I need video footage of the times when I trained with FS. I'd like to begin compiling this new video I've been storyboarding and it's necessary I get that old footage. If anyone has some, please share.
Either archive it and let me know, or send it to me on MSN, if you could be so kind.

Any word yet? I don't care if it's via yousendit.com, I just need some footage. I'd like to start editting this weekend, so if anyone can help me with vids that'd be great! They can even be completed vids if that's all you have. Cheers!

I didn't add those two... I think they might have been added by Dr Proctor. We need to find a permenant file host really because it will be no good if half the video links don't work.

I hoped the video archive would have been more successful than it has. I think people get precious about their recordings. it's a shame really, when you think that 6 months down the line it is all old footage that is forgotten. i'de like to see more FS members uploading even old footagefor the film makers among us to get creative with. It would make such a difference in the future when Flying Squad has developed further to have more creative film making. Flying Squad will be recognised for the major part it has played in the growth of Pk/FR in London. The more footage that is made available to our creative film makers the more we will have to look back on and enjoy in the future. Flying Squad old boys go on about this because we are old enough to realise the importance of keeping a recorded database that shows the development of FR/PK, Flying Squad as a group and its members individually, I assure you that as time passes you would recognise the benefit of making your footage available in FS video footage archive.
