There should be a video footage archive where all footage taken of Flying Squad jumps is stored for anyone to use whenever they need access to material. I know some people get a bit presious about film but it would be for the benifit of Flyiong squad creativity if all footage was made available.

I dont know the best way to go about it. I suppose an online archive would be the most accessable method. Would also be good to keep hard copies in some form of library. I'm talking about raw footage not post edit films.

Hmm I could code an online database type thing if you want... so you can add the clips with info attached like where and when it was filmed so that it can be sorted through easily and do it all through a form on a webpage

Ok here is an example of what it could look like. Obviously you could choose what info about the videos is stored if there are other things you could think of that are useful to know. In that version you can't submit or sort the clips as it is just to show what it would look like. Maybe it could be password protected or something so that only FS members can use it (because if you allowed anyone to add and edit video clips it may be vandalised). I don't mind if you don't want to use it, I'm just offering ;D

Okay, how do we go about putting this into action and how/where would the raw footage be uploaded to? That is perfect JPK. what is next step?
If there are a few members who would like to take the responsibilty (Conor perhaps) of film archive admin to maintain the archive. Would make things much easier alround. It would mean being responsible for uploading and keeping the archive in order with brief summaries of each film for easy searching.
This will be an excellent addition once it is up & running nicely. we can all chuck films together hopefully FS members will begin to EXPERIMENT with film rather it always using plain film footage, there is so much possibilty with access to digital cameras & computers.
NB; The archive will only be for raw pre-edit footage, post edit films can be hosted as usual.

Ok I'll start coding the full version then . One thing I do need to know is if there's any other ways you'd need to search through the videos... like for example would you want to show only videos which have a certain person in them (like if you're making a sampler for them). And as for where the footage would be uploaded to I'm not sure yet. Do you have any idea how much disc scape you'd need to upload all your video footage? I have a few places where I might be able to lend some space but i don't know how much you require.

I havnt got a clue about the technical stuff. If you can get the archive sorted first then we'll deal with technicallities after. I reckon it would need a fair bit of space. Any ideas anyone?
If we could start of with; Date, Location, Camerawork Traceur, Summary. Pretty sure we will discover the best format once it is has been in use for a while.
Nice one JPK.
