This webpage is great! It's the clearest thing i've ever read since i've started free-running. Fogs has said a lot of this stuff already, but this sums it all up historically and accurately. Wicked. pkph.multiply.com/journal/item/18 ;D

Would be fantastic if a Flying Squad website as good or better than that was set up by an FS member.......? It's an offer that's open to any of you.

An important point that has been missed in the article and is very important in the efforts to get the history of all this jumping that we love, in form of accrate context, is the fact that FreeRunning is a term that has been around for a long time before it was ever used as the term to describe an offshoot from Parkour. FreeRunning is a term that has been around since at least the early 80's it was used as a term to describe the practice of those who were not getting enough from 'ordinary' jogging, they would incorporate rolls, jumps, tik tak's etc' into a run.......hence the term FreeRunning was born.
No-one wants you to think/know that FreeRunning was around before Parkour.
Whatever they said or did in the Jump London/Britain programmes on chanel4 it was simply an unsuccessful powergrab to get a controlling influence on a youth scene that was expected to explode creating massive turnover and wealth for those who have a controlling influence over the MYTH of what they wanted Parkour to represent. They lied to you from the beginning to control your mind over who and what Parkour is, and they will continue lying to you until no-one believes a word they say and they are put into the place that they deserve to be along with all of their junk merchandise. It gives me a great feeling to see the understanding of what MR belle created and what has come from it. I spent much time retelling everyone what it all meant and where it came from i remember times when people would actually argue in support of uf's and Mr Foucan's deceit. In the end the truth will out, and it has, very satisfying. Mr Belle deserves all the credit in the world for his marvellous creation. for me Mr Belle is a figure who ranks up there with the highest of them all. a truly powerful man with good intent for all. Ide imagine the fear mongers of the Government and the media are nuts scaredof figures like Mr Belle who have the power from their own creation to build from their hardwork and energy alone something that has a global impact for good. Im not at all surprised that uf had (were given) theopportunity to try to make Parkour ugly and bad but there was never enough good energy coming from the uf kids to allow it to overwhelm the the true GOOD will that is at the core of the Parkour movement. Thankyou David Belle.

The thing is all these seperate movements, jumps , climbing, vaults, rolls have been around for ages, people have been covering ground like this since day one, ninjas, jacky chan e.t.c., what really makes parkour different is the philosophy and the social code that comes with said philosophy.
